Emergency Call: AC Stopped Cooling — Here’s What We Found

We recently received an emergency call from a costumer: their air conditioner had stopped cooling during a hot day. We responded immediately — as we always do for emergency service calls.

During our initial conversation with the customer, we learned that he had a similar issue not long ago. Some “technicians” had come over, spent just a few minutes “fixing” the unit, and left after getting paid. It sounded too quick to be true — and it was.

Here’s what we discovered during our inspection:

• The low-pressure switch had been completely bypassed — someone had jumpered it, disabling one of the system’s most critical safety features.

• Several electrical wires were loose, barely held in place.

• The condenser coil was clogged with dirt and debris, reducing system efficiency and putting stress on the compressor.

Work performed:

The result:

The system is now running smoothly, cooling properly, and — most importantly — operating safely.

Reminder: If your AC stops cooling and someone “fixes” it in under 10 minutes with no real diagnostic — that’s a red flag. Quick fixes can lead to costly damage.
